The Funny Farmily

I had fun taking lots of pictures while we were camping. It's been two years since I got good pictures of the critters to hang in our barn. Some are silly and some are cute... enjoy seeing our Funny Farm-ly! (Thank you Kathryn for teaching me how to do collages!! Yes, I figured it out and now ya'll will get to see lots of collages because they are so fun to do!)

Camping up Slate "Crick" Part 1

Well, it WAS a perfect stair step, until Steelhead grew!! I feel like a shrimp! We went camping up Slate "Crick" (ongoing debate between Hunter and I of how to say it: Creek/Crick... he goes hunting up there, he grew up up there, so I guess he wins this one - but at home it's Pine CREEEEK). Anyway, we went camping with the Cowboy family for 4 days. It was so much fun. It was really relaxing for the most part. Crazy, I hate cooking at home (I love to bake though, there IS a difference), but I love to cook when we are camping. We ate all kinds of yummy dutch oven meals, and I gained all the weight back that I've lost so far, I think. oh well.... I'll diet tomorrow.

We had a lot of fun, ate good, and relaxed and played and slept. Hunter and Cowboy like to go on drives so we did a lot of that too. We played in the creek when it was hot in the afternoon. I lost both of my flip flops when Hunter was trying to drown me once. Of course the guys had to shoot their guns too. So... enjoy the pictures!

Camping up Slate "Crick" Part 2

We went for an evening drive on the 4-wheelers. Cowboy has a trailer and we totally go "red-neck" by putting chairs on it for all the critters to sit. I'm sure we are a sight cruising along... but we didn't actually see anyone, so Hunter didn't have to get embarrassed by our "red-neckin'" ways. Bunny Rabbit and I sat on the 4-wheeler with Hunter. Cowgirl and a bunch of dogs sat on the other 4-wheeler with Cowboy. Yeehaw! It was a nice cool ride. Wish we would have seen some wild life... besides our critters, I mean.

Cowboy took us on a drive up to Florence, an old mining town. It began in the late 1800s and was a booming town of almost 10,000 people there for a while. There are still some active claims up there. We found the cemetery and wandered around a bit. There were some run down old cabins still standing that were pretty cool. Above - the graves of the Chinese miners - exhumed. They took the bodies back to China.

It was a long, hot drive, but the critters had fun in the back of the pickups. Sure was a pretty drive! We stopped and had hot dogs etc. for lunch and drove back to camp.

Sorry I didn't get pictures of the mess Bunny Rabbit made pooping all over me. Somehow none of it got on the pickup seat, but you should have seen my jeans and shirt... holy shirt!! It took Hunter and I a good 15 minutes to get him cleaned up. Wish we would have been near a "crick" because all three of us needed a bath!

I know, I know, baaaadddd parents we are, letting our 2-year-old play with a hatchet. But hey, there's only one way to learn. He's a natural like his daddy.

Camping up Slate "Crick"

Going to pick Huckleberries. We made huckleberry/peach cobbler one night... oh my goodness, can I just say I thought I'd died and gone to Heaven?!!!

Steelhead and Martin did a few skits for us that they learned at Scout Camp. They had us laughing, and then we laughed harder when Lemur imitated everything they did.

The Cowboys brought their 5 dogs with them. Monkey loves dogs and I caught him in this quiet moment petting Blue.

I took some of the critters fishing one morning. I am NO fisherwoman, but took the kids anyway. I have no clue what I am doing, but I knew how to dig worms and get them on the hook. After that, they were on their own.

Monkey got a new fishin' pole for Christmas... this was his first chance to use it.

No WONDER we didn't catch any fish!! Actually Buckarooette and Bee caught 2 fish... minnows... in a cup.

Camping up Slate "Crick"

My little cliff hanger. She hung on... for a while, at least. Then splasho - into the freezing cold water she went. She was shocked that the water was over her head, but swam over to a big rock to safety. She scraped up her shin pretty good, but later wanted everyone to go back swimming there, and they all jumped off the rocks in the hole.

Porcupine and Monkey had fun playing with their Hotwheels they brought. Little Buckaroo had fun playing with them, and Lemur got in their way... a lot!

Hunter took Lemur, Bunny Rabbit and I on a 3 hour 4-wheeler ride. He took us all over where he and Cowboy hunt in the fall. It got a little bumpy, but Bunny Rabbit just looked around with big eyes and actually smiled when we hit the big bumps. Crazy critter! Lemur LOVED it, of course!! Even after we drove for 3 hours he was still mad when he had to get off the 4-wheeler.

WOW!!!! What a view! I felt like I was on TOP of the WORLD!!! Holy smokes! It made me feel pretty small and insignificant in the whole scheme of things. Isn't the Lord awesome in what he can create? Wo.

We blessed Bunny Rabbit Saturday evening at our home. We had a nice evening with family and friends.

After dinner; chillin' on the couch. Notice Nana dolls new clothes... courtesy of Bunny Rabbit - he has so many we won't even miss them and Nana needed a few new outfits! Wilbur got Nana the day he was born over 24 years ago - he named the doll himself and Nana has gone everywhere with Wilbur. Nana has been loved so much he is on his third body. :)

Mr. Zucherman is here visiting us for a few days and we are loving it! He and Wilbur are fun and easy guests. Of course we have to eat the famous pancakes that Mr. Zucherman makes and the kids love!

Wilbur sure loves babies... he's in heaven around here!

The critters all love to play on Wilbur's wheelchair. Mr. Zucherman made the critters sweep the driveway before they could drive it - so I got my driveway all cleaned up! Good thinkin' Mr. Zucherman!
