Look out world, BEE is driving! She's really not old enough, but on the dirt road on the way to the ranch, there's not much she can run into. This was her first time behind the wheel. She did great until, about 200 yards before a big turn to head up to the ranch, I mentioned that she would want to "start slowing down" in order to make this turn. We then all about went through the windshield as Bee slammed on the breaks. The little boys thought that was super funny, and I have to admit, I was laughing too. We indeed made the turn safely, and she drove the rest of the way up to the ranch and stopped at the house nice and easy.
So the whole reason we went to the Ranch was for Mike and September's Wedding Reception. Oh, WAIT, I need a name for them. Ok, so Mike is Cheetah... so we are going to name his wife Cheetette, or Cheetee, or just plain old Cheeter... what do you think? We could always go with the Swahili name, Duma.
I researched Cheetah's a little, and they are very interesting. All Cheetah's are called Cheetahs. They don't differentiate between males and females, like a Fox, for example (Todd and Vixen).
Here is a little info on Cheetahs: A cheetah has a long streamlined body, flexible spine, long legs, a long tail that acts as a rudder, an enlarged heart, large lungs and semi retractable blunt claws which aid the cats traction and turning ability at high speed. Its eyes are physically adapted for speed, enabling it to spot distant prey and follow it with pinpoint precision before racing in to kill.
Other than my brother and his wife not having a tail, I think this animal describes them pretty good, don't you. (If you've ever played a sport against them, you'll agree that they have traction, high speed, large lung capacity, blunt claws, and at times, pinpoint precision before racing in to kill.)
SO anyway, as I was beginning to say, the whole reason we went to the Ranch was for the Cheeter's Wedding reception.. .I mean the Cheetah's Wedding Reception. Chameleon decorated the cake, and Cheetette and Mare decorated. It was super cute, all done in bright colors, with CANDY EVERYHWERE! I think of all the things my kids will remember from growing up, they will remember this wedding reception. They were hyper for weeks following! :)
The kids got Cheetah outside and then sprayed him with silly string.
We stayed with the Horse Family and the boys had a wonderful time playing with their cousins. We got there Friday morning, watched the Homecoming Football Game and got to see lots of people I hadn't seen in 20 years. It was my 20 year anniversary - is that how you say it, from graduating from school there. Holy cow. It was fun to go back. Some things never change. The football coaches were the same ones as when I was there. The only difference is that they are now coaching kids kids they coached 20 years ago. We also watched the volleyball game, and then on Saturday we had a volleyball tournament of our own. It was super fun. The 2 teams were made up of ... well, us. I think there were 2 other people that played too, and a few odd high schoolers, that, after playing a while, probably thought... holy cow, now THIS is VOLLEYBALL!! After lunch we played ultimate football on the football field and got a good workout. Then we got all gussied up and went to the reception. Sure wish I had pictures of volleyball and ultimate frisbee, but, I'm a loser and didn't take pictures. If someone would like to give me a camera, maybe I would take more picures!
