Labor Day Camping Trip 2009

We went camping for Labor Day - like everyone else around here. Holy smokes, there were tons of people on the road. We didn't see TOO many people right where we were, but everywhere we drove there were camp sites - lots of hunters.

Anyway, we went camping with some friends - actually the kids pediatrician - Dr. Tasha. They have 5 kids and all the kids got along and had fun together... especially Steelhead and Maddie... both 13 years old... ask him how his weekend camping was. :) The guys got wood and us gals just sorta sat around and were lazy and ate and cooked and ate and watched the kids play. We did go to a logging show/competition and that was pretty fun and interesting. Hunter saw lots of people he knew from his logging days and they all asked him if he was still logging... and all of their eyes popped out of their heads when they asked how many kids he has and he said 8. Hunter took me to a logging site not far from our camp. It was very cool to see the huge equipment and have him explain what everything does. The massive decks of logs were very impressive - all the different species and how they were all sorted by quality, species and length. it was awesome. The only thing that would have made that better would be if the guys were actually logging. It was a long weekend. We came home tired, dirty and grumpy. Why do we go camping again?....
Makin' breakfast!
Porcupine ate a ton on this camping trip! I think his legs are hollow.

Yak slept really good the whole time. He had his own little place (in mom and dad's bed) in the trailer.
These girls wanted a latrine so bad they put it up themselves. (I personally would rather go for a long walk and enjoy "going in nature."
headed to the creek to play

back from playing in the creek.
